Our Physicians

Dr. Siegel

Gary R. Siegel, MD

Dr. Siegel is board certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He
graduated from The Medical College of Virginia and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at The Yale-New Haven Hospital. He completed his clinical Rheumatology fellowship at The Medical College of Virginia and was a visiting fellow at The Hammersmith Hospital in London. Dr. Siegel is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, a past-president of The Virginia Society of Rheumatologists, and was the 2003 Achievement Awards Honoree of The Arthritis Foundation of Hampton Roads. He is presently an assistant professor of Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.


Dr. Sherwood

Janice C. Sherwood, MD

Dr. Sherwood is a board-certified Rheumatologist. She is a graduate, as well as a faculty member of the Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed her internship and residency at the University of South Carolina and completed her Rheumatology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. She has been with Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater since 1996. Dr. Sherwood is a member of the American College of Rheumatology. She is also a member of the Virginia Society of Rheumatologists. She served as vice president of this organization in 2004-2005 and president in 2005-2006. In addition, she has been active with the Virginia Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.


Dr. Cannon

Michael R. Cannon, MD

Dr. Cannon is a board certified Rheumatologist who joined Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater in 2005. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency, chief residency and rheumatology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University Health System). He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, and a regular contributor to the patient education section on arthritis medications (www.rheumatology.org). Dr. Cannon works with the Eastern Virginia Medical School as a community preceptor. He previously served as the president of the Virginia Society of Rheumatologists. Additionally, he also a member of the Virginia Society of Rheumatology, the American College of Physicians, and has been active in both the Arthritis Foundation and Lupus Foundation of Virginia.


carlos_gadea

Carlos M. Gadea, MD

Dr. Gadea joined the practice in August 2012. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Rheumatology. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut in 2010, followed by his fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Kentucky in June 2012. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Medical Sciences in San Jose, Costa Rica in 2006. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American College of Physicians, and American Medical Association.

Kean Beierschmitt, P.A.C.

Kean T. Beierschmitt, MPA-C, is a national certified Physician Assistant who joined Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater in 2010. He completed his undergraduate degree at Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. He is a graduate of the Master of Physician Assistant program at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is also a retired Independent Duty Hospital Corpsman, Chief Petty Officer, of the United States Navy.
