Ultrasound (Musculoskeletal)
Musculoskeletal ultrasound has become an established imaging technique for the diagnosis and management of rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders.
Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater offers the following ultrasound studies onsite:
- Wrist/hand
- Ankle/feet
- Knees
- Shoulder
Musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints throughout the body. It is used to help diagnose sprains, strains, tears, and other soft tissue conditions. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation.
Once taken, your ultrasound images are sent to Rheumatology Overread Services to be read and interpreted. The reading and interpretation service is a separate service and as such, it is billed separately. Rheumatology Overread Services will file your initial claim (for the reading and interpretation of your ultrasound) with your insurance. However, you may also still receive an invoice for any uncovered costs e.g., copays, deductibles or out of network fees.
Having an outstanding balance for the reading and interpretation service may delay your ultrasound results being available to your provider.
If you have any questions regarding the fee for reading and interpreting your ultrasound, please contact:
